Gilletta Lucile Decker peacefully passed away on Friday, March 27, 2015 at the age of 86. She was born on January 1, 1929 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. She was raised by loving parents Henry and Sally in Phoenix, Arizona since she was one. She attended North Phoenix High School and met the love of her life James Decker. Shortly after graduation, they tied the knot on July 5, 1946 and resided in Phoenix for the rest of their days raising their only daughter. She dedicated everything to being a wife and a mom. She worked for Korricks, selling children's shoes before Jacqueline was born. As her daughter attended elementary school she worked as a cafeteria aide. Soon there were dance recitals, PTA meetings, band trips, and college band concerts as well would fill Lucile's schedule. She never missed a chance to root for her favorite flute, saxophone, oboe, harp, piano, or whatever instrument was of choice for that event for Jacqueline. Lucile and Jim enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing (Lucile was always better than anybody according to Jim). Later in life, Disneyland with the grandchildren was an annual event where Lucile would ride every ride, except the fast coasters, and she wouldn't stop until all of the laughter and smiles were exhausted out of Jessica and James despite her breathing issues and his bad knees. That's how her family found out that Lucile and Jim were made to be grandparents. Holidays were always great as well as birthdays and family get-togethers. She liked having parties frequently, but after dropping the turkey fresh from the oven at your first Thanksgiving how can any party after that be less than amazing.

Lucile with all of her great support will be missed by all who she touched. From the Boy Scouts that would come over to the house for Jim, to the many high school friends that all called her "mom", to the veteran's group that adopted her performance as one of their own after Jim passed to the phone calls to the grandkids, because texting was not an option.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, James Decker. She is survived by her daughter Jacqueline and son-in-law John, her grandchildren Jessica and James, her brother Edward "Dutch" Van Ess (Eva) & her sister Alma Kay Knight (Tom).

Visitation is scheduled for 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at Green Acres Chapel of Light, 401 N Hayden Rd, Scottsdale, 85257. Funeral Service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Green Acres Chapel of Light.
